This is a great opportunity to be involved in the core business development strategy of Norscot Joinery Ltd. Norscot manufacture and supply timber frame house kits and external PVCu, timber and composite aluminium/timber windows and doors. The main customer for both their product ranges is the self-build and domestic market. They have a growing number of commercial clients including local authorities and housing associations. Their services include design, draughting, approvals, erecting timber frame structures and retrofitting windows and doors.
This KTP project will help Norscot design and implement a community-led user-centered design process with the objective of developing affordable, modular, ‘smart home’ to support the health and wellbeing needs of an ageing population. The Associate will be required to develop a broad understanding of different advanced knowledge fields: i.e. Smart Home Technologies, Value-Based Design, Open Innovation, Health, Wellbeing and Ageing – the challenge being to use this knowledge to guide the partnership in the development of usable products for different audiences. Technical challenges will include developing: 1. Easy to use, cost-effective and affordable solutions for the client; 2. A platform which meets current building regulations and housing policies; 3. Integrates well with existing products and solutions.
