Norscot can supply and install, single, double and triple glazed window units (glass only). We also supply decorative and bespoke units and glass cut to size.
All properties lose heat through their windows, but energy efficient glazing keeps your home warmer and quieter as well as reducing your energy bills.
Our glass can be provided in toughened or laminated. Toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. It is made up of two glass layers with a vinyl interlay (similar to car windscreens).
Our glass is available in a range of thicknesses from 10mm to 2mm so you are guaranteed to find the perfect fit for your needs.
We also provide glass with a range of personalisation options, including diamond cut, frosted and leaded glass.
Single Glazing / Glass
Norscot can supply single pieces of glass cut to virtually any size. These units can be fitted into domestic windows, but also have a wide range of other uses. We can provide glass for anything from greenhouses and balustrades (staircase glass) to coffee tables and shelving. As well as picture frame glass. Perfect for domestic use in coffee tables or shelving our glass can come with a polished edge. Polished edges are produced by buffing the edge of the glass with a fine abrasive material and polishing oil, the result is a beautifully translucent and smooth finish. All our glass can be customised with a range of glass tint options, including bronze, blue and grey, with a choice of clear or low iron glass, and can even be supplied with holes or cut to a specific shape.
Double Glazing / Glass
Double glazing consist of two panes of glass with a gap in between, usually about 16mm, to create an insulating barrier that keeps heat in. This is filled with gas, and has many benefits over single glazing. According to the Energy Saving Trust, if you were to replace all of the windows in a three-bedroom, semi-detached house, going from single-glazed windows to double glazing, you’d save between £75 and £110 per year, depending on the window energy rating. Old double glazed units generally have a U value rating of 3 or above, our modern high performance double glazed units have a U value rating of 1.2, this is 3 times the performance compared to an old unit. Meaning the window is more efficient at keeping the cold out and the warm in.
Triple Glazing / Glass
Triple glazing is effectively three panes of glass separated by argon gas, this means it has an extra layer of glass to insulate your home over double glazing. This extra layer makes it more difficult for heat to escape allowing you to maintain the temperature in your home. As well as providing a warmer home in the winter months it also reduces energy bills by preventing heat loss. After installing triple glazing you’ll notice a significant difference in your bills as well as the comfort of your home – especially in the winter months. This means you won’t have to reach for the thermostat. In fact, triple glazing is five times more efficient than single glazing – imagine the difference that could make to your home
