AluWood, our aluminium clad timber window features the same softwoods and hardwoods available for our timber windows clad externally with aluminium extruded from alloy in accordance with BS EN-755. The aluminium can be polyester powder coated to BS 6496 with the full range of RAL or BS colours or anodised to BS 3987.

Aluminium is virtually 100% recyclable and does not age in use. As the life expectancy is beyond 50 years, the use of aluminium is seen as a substantial sustainable product.

Timber finishes can last for many years now without further application and most high quality finishes now use water based paints and preservatives. Timber is also an excellent insulator and does not give off toxic fumes when burnt.

The combination of these two materials offers the best of both and it’s not surprising that composite windows are growing in popularity for both commercial and domestic use.

AluWood Windows offer a selection of outward opening styles within the same frame. The most popular being:

  • Top-swing flush reversible
  • Top-hung open out flush casement
  • Side-hung open out flush casement
  • Fixed lights – internal or external beads

  • Excellent overall window U value from 1.1 W/m2K
  • Double or triple glazing to 36mm, with glass options
  • Multi-point locking system with night vent position
  • Uniform sightlines with any opening type
  • Full range of BS and RAL colours with various timber treatments
  • Competitively priced with short lead times

Polyester powder coating to BS 6496 is applied to the aluminium prior to fabrication of the product. The full range of BS 5252 colours and RAL colours are available.

Certain colours may result in extended lead times.

The most common finish for anodised aluminium is ‘clear anodised’ which is sometimes known as ‘silver anodised’. Anodising is not an applied finish but a change in the surface of the aluminium formed by accelerated oxidisation, as a result the finish is extremely hard wearing.

A limited range of colours is available usually in various shades of ‘bronze’ and a black. More recently various shades of grey have become available.

Timber profiles are pressure treated prior to assembly to ensure a long stable life expectancy. Once the product is manufactured it can be sprayed with various micro-porous finishes to suit the clients internal decor designs. White or clear lacquer finishes are most common but there is also a wide range of colours available .

The doors were fitted today. Very nice, thanks for the service. The fitter was excellent, a good ambassador for the company, someone your company can be proud of.

Delighted with the fantastic job, from first call with Iain, to visit to showroom, Iain the surveyor's assessment and Davy's work. Quality from start to finish, and excellent support thereafter. Davy is an artist, not a tradesman. Thank you Norscot!
